Action. Adventure. Suspense. Romance. It seems only natural that some of the raciest, most creative and far-flung kisses have appeared in superhero films and TV shows, from as far back as the original Superman film (remember how dreamy Christopher Reeve was?) to the hit show Arrow, currently on the air. A Top 10 list ensues, listing some pretty passionate smooches.
10. The Incredibles
Well-deserving of the animation spot on this list, this delightful Pixar entry from 2004 plants a nice smacker on Elsatigirl Helen Parr (voiced by Holly Hunter), when her amorous husband Bob (Craig T. Nelson) ropes her in for one right on the lips.
One of the only Supercouples deserving of their very own powercouple hashtag, #Clana (ie, Clark and Lana of TV’s Smallville) lit up the screen on many more than one occasion throughout the series’ decade long run. Here is the kiss that started it all.
8. Teen Wolf
In this scene from MTV’s Teen Wolf, Allison says, “I can handle weird.” And then lets wolfy Scott come on to her in a dark and creepy locker room. But can she really handle all the weird that Scott brings? Hmmm…
7. Batman Returns
In a truly, well, electrifying scene, this Supervillain kiss spelled doom for Christopher Walken as he falls to the mercy of Catwoman (an excellent Michelle Pfeiffer) in Tim Burton’s zany and wonderful supersequel, Batman Returns.
In the ultimate nerd-gets-hot-girl makeout scene, the end of Transformers packed a punch of its own showing Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela (the inimitable Megan Fox) laying out on Bumblebee, playing tonsil hockey. Talk about a victory for the good guys!
In the underappreciated (well, the first season anyway) series Heroes, we meet Claire Bennet, played by Hayden Panettiere, a cheerleader with surprising powers akin to those of Wolverine. Throughout the series, the adorable (and powerful) girl charms many, including an awkward girl named Gretchen…
Things get steamy between Oliver and Laurel for their second kiss in this scene from Arrow, right before the season finale, where the two make out to Imagine Dragons’ hit Radioactive.
Back in the day, when flying onscreen was still a breathtaking special effect, Superman Christopher Reeve took Lois Lane Margot Kidder on a dreamy flight through the clouds, and made sure to have a little smooch, too. Truly classic.
When Rogue (Anna Paquin) tells her crush Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) that merely touching her might kill him, he balks. He’s not going to let some girl’s silly superpower stop him from getting some loving. Well…oh how wrong he was!!
An obvious, hands-down choice for #1, the upside-down kiss in the rain between the ‘original’ Spiderman (Tobey Maguire) and Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) captured not only Spidey fans galore, but the MTV generation as well, for its rock-n-roll factor.
