blue-lily-lily-blue-maggie-stiefvaterSYNOPSIS:

There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Friends can betray.

Mothers can disappear.

Visions can mislead.

Certainties can unravel.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHECK IT OUT?

From everything we’ve heard about The Raven Boys and this series, it is hella fun, filled with unique magic and mythology you won’t find in other YAs of the same genre.  With a large, diverse cast and a healthy dose of romance, readers have plenty of plots to get excited for.  And best of all: there’s more yet to come!

While all of the covers in this series have been very eye-catching, making great use of white space, there is an especial loveliness to this cover.  Perhaps it’s the blue-green watercolor palette, or the almost fae-like expression on the depicted character and the natural beauty of the plants and flowers.  We love the subtle use of thorns and feathers, and of course the ravens off in the distance.

YA author Maggie Stiefvater is the brilliant mind behind The Shiver Trilogy, The Raven Cycle, and The Scorpio Races.  She lives an “eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, two neurotic dogs, and a 1973 Camaro named Loki”.  Find Maggie online at www.MaggieStiefvater.com!

EARLY REVIEWS SAY…

[M]agic seems expected yet never commonplace, always shimmering under the surface. Most credible and moving are the slow maturations of her characters—Adam comes to measure his worth in something other than money; Blue secretly phones Gansey in the night. If she kisses her true love, he will die.  Expect this truly one-of-a-kind series to come to a thundering close. (Kirkus Reviews)

Stiefvater’s razor-sharp characterizations, dryly witty dialogue, and knack for unexpected metaphors and turns of phrase make for sumptuous, thrilling reading. Curses, grisly secret plots, and romantic uncertainties leave Blue and company’s future feeling more fragile than ever. A brutal cliffhanger ensures that readers will snap up the final installment the second it’s available. (Publishers Weekly)
